Women's Top 25 Preview Capsules

The Countdown to Corvallis begins soon, as teams battle for one of the coveted 12 spots at the National.  Teams are hard at work through the Fall training period, upgrading their routines and making adjustments for the new season.  Last April saw the return of Georgia to the Championship Throne, with the GymDawgs capturing the National Title that eluded them for the last several years.  Who will advance this year?  Who will be crowned Champion in Corvallis?  CollegeGymFans.com takes a quick early look at the Top 25 teams, as determined by their final 2004 placement.  

The new season coincides with the start of a new post Olympic quadrennium, and the start of a New Code of Points.  The sport of elite artistic gymnastics is undergoing a major change to its FIG Code of Points.  While the NCAA will not see anything quite so radical, the new Code is reflected in an updated NCAA code in use for this season.  The NCAA code is derived from the Junior Olympic L10 requirements, with some modifications.  This year, there are several differences in special requirements and values from years past, and even a slightly larger difference between the JO and NCAA code.  More on the new Code will be published in an article in the Features section.
