The special guest was, in fact, John Wooden, who passed out awards.
UCLA Vault Malia Jones - front pike, nice in the air, but sat down Jeanette Antolin - Y-full, beautiful vault, stuck landing, awesome Yvonne Tousek - Hristakieva, she's cleaned up the form, did one of those "quick" stick salutes before stepping forward Onnie Willis - Y-full, stuck, nice job Kristin Parker - piked barani, had to tuck the end and I think took a step, so the score was a little high Jamie Dantzscher - Y-full, beautiful in the air, slight bounce on landing (again, a bit high)
UCLA Bars Valerie Velasco - straddle over; Gienger (a little close); overshoot; Higgins-double front half (stuck) Malia Jones - She had a SCARY fall in warmups where she peeled off on her dismount and landed on her face. Then in the meet, the skills in the routine (Jaegar, straddle back HS) were beautiful but she fell on her first and last cast HS. She was really going for the HS and just arched over and came off. But she nailed the double layout dismount. Onnie Willis - She went back to her old routine. straddle over, uprise HS, blind change, front giant half, Tkatchev, straddle back HS, toe-on shoot to HB (a little close), double front-half with a step back Yvonne Tousek - straddle over, uprise HS (beautiful), Kim pirouette-piked Jaegar; Pak salto; stuck double layout. Beautiful routine! One judge gave a 10, the other 9.9 (which was low, but she ended up with the fair score) Jamie Dantzscher - Shaposhnikova, Pak salto; toe-on shoot to HB; toe-on toe-off, Gienger; awesome full-in (She's not totally clean kipping out of the toe-shoot, but everything else was perfect) Doni Thompson - straddle-over, uprise HS, giant full, Tkatchev, counterswing full turn, straddle back HS; full-in (nice job) Jeanette Antolin exhibitioned bars. Higgins-inverts-piked Jaegar, bail HS, Higgins-piked/tucked double front-half (low, step back) - 9.775
UCLA Beam Doni Thompson - ff-ff-layout, switch-straddle-straddle, front handspring stepout, wolf-beat, gainer back pike off the end Jamie Dantzscher - ff-ff-layout (solid), straddle-straddle (tiny break), punch front (break), wolf-Korbut, ff-gainer 1 1/2 twist off the end (stuck) (score a bit high) Malia Jones - ff-ff-layout (very slightly off), switch-straddle-straddle, cartwheel-gainer full off the side (beautiful routine, GREAT to see her bounce back like that) Yvonne Tousek - ff-layout-ff, straddle-straddle, wolf-Chen, Tousek-Shushunova (she finally did it at home! awesome), RO-double full (step) Onnie Willis - I was kind of amused with her mount. She nailed several front mounts in the extended warmup but opted for her wolf jump mount in the meet and had a break. switch leap-split 1/4, switch-side leap, ff-ff-double tuck (fall forward). No more punch front. Alyssa Beckerman - full turn with leg horizontal (break), front aerial (break), front aerial-ff (perfect), cartwheel-gainer full off the side. I was really pleased with this routine, as she was a little off but though to add the second aerial and nailed it.
UCLA Floor Valerie Velasco - double pike, front through to layout full to layout stepout (OOB), handspring- front layout Malia Jones - whip through to double pike, handspring-bounder-rudi, Johnson-Popa-wolf full, front full Alyssa Beckerman - whip-double full (head back on landing), double turn with leg horizontal, handspring-bounder-rudi, cat leap double-wolf hop full, RO-whip half-front layout. Awesome routine, no deductions, and she totally sold it. Yvonne Tousek - triple twist, 2 1/2 twist-punch front, outside double turn-Popa-tuck jump full to one knee, whip-1 1/2 twist-punch front. Beautiful routine. Onnie Willis - tuck front-full through to double tuck, RO-1 1/2 twist-RO-double stag jump-punch front, Johnson-Popa-Shushunova, double tuck Jamie Dantzscher - double layout, RO-1 1/2 twist, barani-full twist-layout stepout, Johnson-Shushunova, Popa-wolf full, double tuck (absolutely perfect routine) She had a slight change of choreography where the second two hand movements up her body usually go (right before the Popa-wolf full combo). Very fun
Michigan Bars
Shannon MacKenzie - overarched straddle back HS Calli Ryals - straddle-over; blind change, front giant-1/2, Tkatchev, straddle back-HS; double layout (nice job) Elise Ray - uprise HS, hop full, Tkatchev, straddle back HS, full-twisting double layout (stuck)
Michigan Beam Missy Peterson - missed her ff mount and couldn't continue the series Calli Ryals - ff-ff-layout (solid), tiny break on a back tuck, break on a switch leap, stuck RO-double full Elise Ray - ff-ff-layout (totally off the side and tucked it), cartwheel-"gainer" full off the side (stuck)
Michigan Floor Missy Peterson - She had some stumbles in her tumbling. Elise Ray - 2 1/2 twist, whip half-Rudi (no Shush, a little sloppy), double turn-wolf 1 1/2, double full Calli Ryals - beautiful 2 1/2 twist-punch front, awesome double pike, controlled whip half-front full (I didn't see her leap series so there may have been a slight deduction that I missed but the tumbling was perfect.)
Michigan Vault Kallie Steffes - piked barani (VERY low, big step forward) Calli Ryals - piked barani (step back) Janessa Grieco - piked barani (a little sloppy, step back) Elise Ray - stuck Y-full Missy Peterson - Hristakieva
I didn't see much Minnesota at all, including the two 10s on vault. Alicia Opsahl fell on her second and third tumbling passes and MaryAnne Kelley did a nice floor routine (high full-in, whip half-front full was bounded out of, whip-double full). Kelley also stuck her tucked barani vault.
Sorry, didn't see Cal State-Fullerton either, though I did catch Jo Hughes' nice Deltchev.
