The judges were very consistent with one another, but also holding the line on the 9.9+ scores. A couple of routines could have gone 10.0, IMO, but not on this night. I tried to catch both judges’ scores if I could, so I’ve listed them just for fun. If there were inquiries afterward, the scores could end up different than what I’ve written.
Rotation 1: UF on UB and Utah on V Dreger: Little bit of loose form throughout and little hop on dismount. 9.75/9.75/9.75 Tanner: Front pike with somewhat bent knees and a bit of a hop 9.7/9.75/9.725 Carow: Fell on her release move between the bars (does she do a Comanici salto?) She also stalls out a bit in her handstands and looks like she could easily just lose control. Hop on dismount. 8.9/9.0/8.95 Bowles: She looked like she had this in warmups. Front pike ½, nice distance but landed with her chest down and shuffled around. 9.6/9.65/9.625 Thompson: Pretty nice routine with a nice stick on the double layout. 9.85/9.85/9.85 Eberle: Yur. ½ front LO stuck...it was a beauty! 9.9/9.9/9.9 Waterhouse: this was a pretty nice routine, maybe form could be a little tighter, but nothing majorly wrong here. 9.8/9.85/9.825 Vituj: Through a huge Tsuk LO ½ but took a big step with one foot. 9.85/9.9/9.875 Pendleton: Looked like she caught her release a little close and took a little hop on her double LO, but really pretty nice set. 9.8/9.85/9.825 LeClerc: Nice pike front ½ with just a tiny movement of one foot. 9.9/9.85/9.875 Szmuch: This routine drew some “oo’s” and “awe’s” - very interesting and unusual moves and nicely done. 9.9/9.9/9.9 Allan: Yur ½ front LO. It looked like her hands slipped a bit but she pulled it off with just a little shuffle on the landing. 9.875 Stucky (exh.): Caught her release close and drew some “oo’s” and “awe’s” - not only because of her interesting pirouetting moves, but because it looked like she wasn’t going to hang on to some of them. She really just got off bars with like a flyaway. One judge had the SV at 9.8 and I couldn’t see the other. 9.6/9.55/9.575
Rotation 2: Utah UB and UF V Vituj: Looking good, but fell on her Tkachev. Otherwise nice. Handstand could be straighter, but I don’t think they are deduction material 9.1/9.2/9.15 Dreger: HS double twist with a step on landing. No height at all. 9.8/9.8/9.8 Eberle: Very nice bars set, but she seem a little tentative. Very nice with a stuck dismount 9.85/9.9/9.875 Waterhouse: Front pike with a hop. (Ed Note: 9.7) Bowles: One of the nicest routines she’s done in a while, but still had a little step on the dismount. 9.9/9.95/9.925 Schatz: front pike, ran out of it. 9.65/9.7/ 9.675 Graham: Just a really nice routine with a nice stick. 9.95/9.9/9.925 Szmuch: Yur. ½ front LO with a step. 9.8/9.85/9.825 LeClerc: She really did a solid routine and a great job with a nice double LO dismount. 9.85/9.9/9.875 Miner: Really nice front pike ½ and stuck. Probably the nicest vault of the night. 9.9/9.95/9.925 Kulio: through an absolutely exquisite routine, but took a little step on the landing. 9.95/9.95/9.95 Thompson: front pike ½ to her knees. 9.2/9.25/9.25 Rotation 3: UF on FX and Utah on BB [Editor's Note: Reener's original parenthesis, to denote a side comment]: (I’m not sure how I feel about UF’s floors. They are definitely different. A lot of the music sounded like they spliced stuff together that they didn’t need to. I wasn’t wild about most of it. The choreo. was, well, different. They generally did a nice job with it, but it might be an acquired taste) Allan: Missed her RO LO 2footed landing and was off. Bobbled her chen. Directional step on the landing. 9.025 Dreger: couldn’t see the first pass (little kids in front of me were up and down, up and down) FLO/Ftuck, double twist. I saw a 9.8 and a 9.65 and I think a conference on this one. Eberle: Punch front on, wobble....wobble....touch....off. Everything else looked great. Carow: Double pike; Rudi/LOSO (I think); Ffull/FLO. Nice expression LeClerc: Looking good til she fell on her flight series. Szmuch: Interesting dance. Double pike. Can’t read my notes on the second pass except that she bounded out of it. Double tuck with a little shuffle. 9.9/9.8/9.85 Vituj: Three falls in front of her? No problem. Absolute confidence throughout. Just a tiny hop on the landing. 9.85 Waterhouse: Does an Elvis Presley thing. Landed her two and half WAY out. Double pike and double tuck 9.75/9.75/9.65 (with step out) Bowles: This was one of the nicest beam sets she’s thrown this year, but had a little step on the landing. 9.925 Miner: double pike with a slide on the landing. Double tuck. Can’t remember her last pass. 9.85 Kulio: Wow - what a beautiful routine. This could have been a 10, I think, but both judges gave her a 9.95 Thompson: whip/whip/BHS/double pike (nice!) RO thru to double pike; two and a half front pike. Really nice job! 9.9/9.9/9.9 Dooley (exh): double pike, shuffle. Front/front full/punch front (I think); front full with a step. Form was so-so. 9.8/9.75/9.775
Rotation 3: UF on BB and Utah on FX
Dreger: really bent knees on her series. Big wobble on a leap, but hung on. Big check on her split 1/4 leap. Didn’t catch the score Allan: Shuffled the first pass and from my perspective, looked like her toe was over the line, but no flag. Maybe got away with one *shrug* 9.8/9.85/9.825 Thompson: Gorgeous series, 2 footed landings throughout. Leap 1/4 wobble, but stayed on. Sat her dismount. 9.3/9.3/9.3 Tanner: Feet slid a bit on her full in. Otherwise nice routine. 9.9/9.85/9.875 Waterhouse: Hung on to her flight series, even though her feet where headed off the side. Nice save. Nice routine, but stumbled a bit on the landing. (Ed Note: 9.775) Eberle. She makes the tumbling look WAY too easy. Everything was picture perfect. 9.95/9.95/9.95 Miner: Punch front on. Just tiny little checks here and there and a directional step on the landing. 9.8/9.8/9.8 LeClerc: She’s also making the tumbling look too easy. Nice job. Maybe could clean up the landings on some of her jumps. 9.85/9.85/9.85 Carow: Other than the hop on the landing, she did a nice job. I really don’t know what the deductions were here. 9.7 Bowles: Probably the best fx routine of the year for her. Just gorgeous. No 10????? 9.95/9.95/9.95 Dooley: Punch front wolf. Off on flight series. Off on punch front. 8.825 Vituj: although her triples were great in warmups, she over rotated it and bounded a touch. Her feet nearly slipped out from under her on her second pass. This is the second week in a row that the judges have been really tolerant of her landing errors.. 9.8/9.85/9.825 Szmuch (exh): Interesting routine. She had to reel her arms just a little to catch her balance once, but nice routine. 9.85/9.9/9.875
