Men's NCAAs: Cameron Takes AA Title

Chris Cameron took the National AA Title in the finals of the Men's NCAAs, defeating the defending champion, OU's Steven Legendre.  (We had previously reported the preliminary winner)

Men's NCAAs: Michigan Takes Title

Michigan took the 2010 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Team Championships, edging Stanford by 0.7 points.   OU was third.  Chris Cameron of Michigan posted a 90.5 to win the AA title.

Bridgeport Wins USAG Title

After tying with Cornell for the 2009 title, Bridgeport won the title outright in 2010.  Bridgeport hit for a 193.975 to defeat second place TWU.

USU has announced the signing of Paige Jones and Rachel Vaske, confirming earlier information regarding their commitments to USU.  They join Samantha Wagner and Julia Wilkins, who signed in the fall.  Jones, L10 from Edge Gymnastics in Missouri, recently finished 3rd AA in her State Meet and 11th AA at Regionals. Vaske, L10 from Midwest Gymnastics in Minnesota, finished 8th AA in her State Meet and 4th AA at Regionals.

USAG Championships: Prelims

At the USAG Championships for Women, defending champion Rashonda Cannie of TWU won the AA title with a 38.725. TWU, Cornell, Rutgers and Bridgeport will compete for the National title on Friday night.

2011-12 Jaworski to SUU

Ana Jaworski, L10 from Airborne Gymnastics in California, has verbally commited to SUU for 2012. Ana is a 3rd year level 10 who finished 10th AA at the '09 NIT.  She has racked up numerous top five finishes and event wins this season, including first place AA finishes at Wine Country Meet, Spirit of the Flame Meet and NorCal State Meet.  She recently finished 2nd AA at her regional meet. She is a high honor student at St. Francis High School and will graduate in 2011.

2010-11 Nansy Damianova to Utah

Canadian Olympian Nansy Damianova from Montreal, Quebec has signed with Utah for the 2010-11 season according to a press release from Utah.  She competed at Elite Canada this season, placing 5th AA; 1st UB.  She also competed at the Gymnix International Cup, placing 3rd AA in the all around competition, and 4th UB/3rd FX in the Event Finals.

2010-11 Phelan to CMU

Meagan Phelan, L10 from Galaxy Gymnastics in New York, has committed to CMU for the 2011 season.  She recently finished 8th AA at her regional meet and helped her high school team win back-to-back state titles.

2011-12 Jordan to LSU

Jessie Jordan, Cypress Gymnastics in Texas, has verbally committed to LSU.  The high school sophmore intends to graduate in December 2011 so she can compete in the 2012 season.  She competed as a Sr. Elite this season, placing 3rd AA at the Metroplex Meet and 10th AA (1st V) at the Houston National Invite.

2011-12 Amanda Lievendag to BGSU

Amanda Lievendag, L10 at Harford Gymnastics in Maryland, has committed to BGSU for the 2011-12 season.  Leivendag has numerous top five finishes in her regular season meets this year and she recently finished 2nd AA at the Maryland state meet and 7th AA at regionals.

UCLA Wins Los Angeles Regional

UCLA and Arkansas advanced easily out of the Los Angeles Regional.  UCLA posted a nation-high 197.825 to defeat Arkansas' 196.675.  Anna Li led UCLA, posting a 10.0 on UB and winning VT.  Teammate Vanessa Zamarripa edged her for the AA title with a 39.675.  Teammate Brittani McCullough won the FX.  For Arkansas, Casey Jo Magee won the BB.

Advancing as AAers are Iowa State's Michelle Browning and ASU's Mary Atkinson.

Florida Wins Salt Lake Regional

Florida posted a big 197.675 to defeat host Utah.  Utah posted a 196.9.  Ashanee Dickerson led Florida, posting a 39.7 for the AA win.  She dominated throughout.  Dickerson also won the BB and tied for the UB with teammates Maranda Smith and Amanda Castillo, and Utah's Daria Bijak.  Dickerson also tied for 1st on FX with a host of others.

Boise State's Hannah Redmon won the VT with a near perfect 9.975, advancing to Nationals on that event.  She also tied for first on FX, where she tied with Utah's Annie DiLuzio, Auburn's Rachel Inniss, and Washington's Kristen Linton and Samantha Walior.  It has not been determined if these other FX co-champs advance.

Two other DU athletes advanced as AAers, with Kelley Hennigan taking the first spot and Brianna Artemev winning the tiebreaker for the 2nd slot.

Missouri Wins Columbia Regional

Host #15 Missouri, the #3 seed, advanced as one of three Big 12 teams to advance.  They posted a 196.5 for the win.  Oregon State posted a 196.275 for 2nd.

There will be a new national champion this season as UGA does not advance, losing on the tiebreaker to the Beavers.

Missouri was led by Sarah Shire, who won the AA with a 39.625.  She dominated the Regional, winning VT and tying with Oregon State's Laura Ann Chong on UB and UGA's Courtney McCool on FX.  McCool won BB to advance to Nationals there and on FX.

Iowa's Rebecca Simbhudas advanced as an indvidual AAer.  Minnesota's Alexis Russell won the tiebreaker to advance in the 2nd slot for Nationals.

Bama Wins Lexington Regional

Alabama posted a 197.4 to win the Lexington Regional.  Nebraska followed with a 195.975 to secure the second slot.

Gerelan Stack-Eaton of Alabama won the AA with a 39.55, edging teammate Ashley Priess.  Stack-Easton tied for 1st on VT with teammate Kayla Hoffman, NU's Erin Davis and Illinois' Allison Buckley and Whitney Rose and on UB with teammate Kassi Price and NU's Britnee Habbib.  Priess won the BB while Bama's Morgan Dennis won the FX.

Sarah Schmidt of Illinois and Nicole Curler of MSU advanced as the top two AAers not on a qualifying squad.
