Jun. 10, 2008 update

2008-2009: Stanford Adds Peter and Skoly - Greg @ 8:04 am PST
Stanford has announced the addition of Jenny Peter and Allie Skoly to their incoming frosh class.
According to her club Solid Rock, Peter is walking on to the Stanford squad after a solid L10 career. This past season, she finished 32nd AA at the 2008 L10 Nationals, Sr. D. In 2007, she did even better, placing 8th AA, 9th(t) on UB and 10th(t) on FX at the L10 Nationals.
Skoly trained at Rhode Island's Aim High gymnastics club, where she was a L10. She qualified to the Region VI L10 Regionals in 2007, where she competed on three events.

2009-2010: de la Torre to UCLA - Greg @ 7:03 am PST
Monique de la Torre has reportedly committed to UCLA. She's a former elite and current L10 who trains at Carter's Gymnastics. She placed 4th AA, 2nd(t) on FX and 6th(t) on UB at the 2008 L10 Nationals, in the Senior C group. In 2007, she placed 7th AA, 3rd(t) UB, 8th(t) FX and 9th on BB at the L10 Nationals. Visa (US) Championships: AA Final - Greg @ 1:59 am PST
Incoming NCAAers and recruitables were in action Saturday at the Visa (US) Championships. Shawn Johnson won the event. UGA frosh Amber Trani competed six of eight events, placing 19th, just behind former Brown star (and volunteer assistant) Alicia Sacramone. Florida commit Randy Stageberg was 9th, with Utah commit Katelyn Mohr 16th. Sacramone, Stageberg, and Trani were all invited to the Olympic Trials. Link: AA Results

Canadian Championships, Day 2 - Greg @ 11:57 am PST
Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, the incoming UCLA frosh, recaptured the Canadian National title on Thursday night. Stanford incoming frosh Alyssa Brown finished 4th, and Oregon State incoming frosh Stephanie McGregor was 9th. Link: AA Results

2008-2009: Sullivan Signs with Towson - Greg @ 11:47 pm PST
Kady Sullivan has signed with Towson, according to a school release. Sullivan is a L10 who trains at Brestyan's in Massachusetts. She tied for 41st AA at the 2008 L10 Nationals, in the Senior C group. She also placed 2nd AA at the recent High School Senior Showcase. She also qualified to Nationals in 2007. 2009-2010: Rigney to Pitt - Greg @ 11:36 pm PST
Laura Rigney has committed to Pittsburgh, according to her club web site Rigney is a L10 who trains at Wright's. In 2007, she placed 22nd AA and 10th(t) on BB in the Junior D division at the L10 Nationals. She finished 17th AA and 5th on both VT and FX at the Region V L10 Regionals. Link: Rigney Profile

Canadian Championships, Day 1 - Greg @ 11:20 pm PST
The Senior women competed, with recruitables and signees in action. UCLA incoming frosh Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs is 2nd AA behind Kristina Vaculik. Stanford incoming frosh Alyssa Brown is sixth, while Oregon State incoming frosh Stephanie McGregor is 8th. Another UCLA incoming frosh, Aisha Gerber, competed two events. Visa (US) Championships: Women's Day 1 - Greg @ 11:13 pm PST
Signees and recruitables were in action at the 2008 Visa (US) Championships, being held this week in Boston. After Day 1, Shawn Johnson leads. UGA incoming frosh Amber Trani was 19th, competing on three events. UF commit Randy Stageberg is 11th, with Utah commit Katelyn Mohr in 14th. Link: Women's Senior Day 1 AA

2008-2009: Shetley to Air Force - Greg @ 1:34 pm PST
Katie Shetley has accepted an appointment to the Air Force Academy and will compete for them next year, according to her club. She's a L10 from Team Central in Missouri. She's a two time L10 National Qualifier (2008 and 2006), and the runner-up in the AA at the 2005 Level 9 Western Nationals. Link: Club Profile

2008-2009: Spoor to Alaska - Greg @ 1:24 pm PST
Kaelei Spoor has signed with Alaska, according to the GNAC website. Spoor is a L10 from Central NY Gymnastics. She was 56th AA at the 2007 L10 Nationals, after a 4th place AA finish at Regionals. She was also 12th AA at the 2006 Region VI L10 Regionals.

2008-2009: Malone to SPU - Greg @ 1:20 pm PST
Brittany Malone has signed with SPU, according to the GNAC website. She's a first year L10 who trains at Elite of Salinas. In 2007, as a L9, she placed 17th AA and tied for 2nd on VT at the Region I L9 Regionals.

2008-2009: Epps to Washington - Greg @ 1:10 pm PST
Anna Epps will reportedly join the Washington squad this fall as a walkon. The L10 from Cascade Elite recently placed 43rd AA at the L10 Nationals in the Senior C group. She also finished for 47th(t) AA in 2007 and 42nd(t) in 2006. Link: YouTube.com Video

2009-2010: Cristello to Arizona - Greg @ 1:05 pm PST
Aubree Cristello has reportedly made an early commit to Arizona, according to a board post. She's a teammate of fellow commit Molly Quirk at World Class in New York. She recently placed 27th AA and tied for 7th on VT at the 2008 L10 Nationals, Senior A division. In 2007, she tied for 15th AA in the Junior D division at the L10 Nationals. 2009-2010: Quirk to Arizona - Greg @ 1:01 pm PST
Molly Quirk has reportedly committed to Arizona, according to a board post. Quirk's a L10 who trains at World Class in New York. She tied for 20th AA at the 2008 L10 Nationals in the Senior A group, garnering a 7th place tie on BB in the process. And in 2007, competing in the Junior D division, she placed 26th AA, 9th(t) on FX, and 10th(t) on BB. Link: YouTube.com Video

Ellen Pitluck has reportedly committed to Arizona, according to a board post. Pitluck is a L10 trains at IGI. She placed 27th AA including a tie for 4th on UB at the 2008 L10 Nationals, Sr. C. She was also 11th AA at the 2007 Region V L10 Regionals. Link: YouTube.com Video

2009-2010: Jones to Arizona - Greg @ 12:53 pm PST
Britnie Jones committed to Arizona earlier this spring, and the Arizona USAG website has been updated to reflect her commit. She's a L10 at the Arizona Sunrays. She tied for 17th AA at the 2008 L10 Nationals, with a 2nd place finish on BB and tie for 7th on FX to her credit. As a Jr C in 2006, she was 12th AA at the Region I L10 Regionals. 2009-2010: Douglas to Arizona - Greg @ 12:42 pm PST
Mykle Douglas' official website has been updated to reflect her commit to Arizona. She's a L10 who trains at WOGA. At the 2008 L10 Nationals, she tied for 21st AA and 6th on BB in the Senior B group. SCSU Incoming Class for 2008-2009 - Greg @ 12:54 pm PST
Southern Connecticutt will add six athletes for 2008-2009, according to Head Coach Jerry Nelson. The six include Alexa Banda, Jessica Kiback, Stephanie Kuska, Alanna Laecca, Kaitlyn Watson and Taylor Wierzba. Banda's commit was covered previously while Kuska was a previous signee with Rhode Island.
Kiback is a L10 and former junior national elite who trains at CATS. She placed 21st AA at the 2006 Region VI L10 Regionals.
Laecca is a L9 from Gymnastics Revolution. This past spring, she won the Regional L9 titles in the AA, BB and FX. She also placed 30th AA at the 2008 Level 9 Eastern Nationals. In 2007, she placed 1st on BB and 30th AA at the Level 9 Eastern Nationals.
Watson is a L10 who trains at Southern Tier. At the 2008 L10 Nationals, she tied for 8th on VT and 33rd AA. She was also 12th AA at the 2007 Region VI L10 Regionals.
Wierzba is a L9 who trains at Niagara. She qualified to the Region VI Level 9 Regional meet, where she tied for 3rd on FX.

May 30, 2008 update

Nicole Johnson to ASU - Reener @ 2:35 pm PST
Nicole Johnson, of DeVeau's, has committed to ASU. She recently placed 19th AA at JO Nationals (2nd UB) and 4th AA at her regional meet (3rd UB; 4th fx). YouTube video

Sarah Gillespie to Ohio State - Reener @ 12:01 pm PST
Sarah Gillespie, L10 at World Class in Virginia, has committed to Ohio State for the 2009-2010 year. She placed 1st AA in her age division at the '08 Virginia State Championships; placed 4th AA at the 2008 Region 7 championships and 4th AA in the Senior A division at the 2008 JO National Championships.

Marissa Gutierrez to Alabama - Reener @ 3:48 am PST
Gutierrez, L10 from Texans, has committed to Alabama for the 2009-2010 season. She finished 2nd AA at the Texas State meet in 08 (1st v, 12th ub, 1st bb, 5th fx). Tied for 1st AA in her 07 State meet (2nd v, 6th ub, 1st bb, 3 fx). YouTube Video
