The 2022 Season is upon us, with a little sense of déja vu. We have seniors returning for their fifth or sixth years, a load of exciting frosh and some of the largest rosters in our 22 seasons of publishing these reviews. We're once again publishing Season Previews for the entire Top 25 teams, as ranked by the Coaches' Preseason Poll. In each Preview, we've summarized the team's returning routines, their lost routines, their returning starters and the rest of their roster, with a special focus on their newcomers. We'll also give a brief overview preview of their prospects and challenges.
Defending champion Michigan tops the Women's Preseason Coaches' Poll. They7 received 37 first place votes. Florida just edged out OU for 2nd, with Utah not far behind. Florida had 16 first place votes, OU 6, Utah 8 and #5 LSU and #7 Cal 1 each.

Michigan's Kurt Golder is retiring after 25 seasons as Head Coach of the Men's squad. He led the Wolverines to four NCAA titles and six Big 10 Conference titles. Assistant Yuan Xiao will lead the team as interim Head Coach.

Navy has hired former OU standout, NCAA champion and Jamaican National Team member Mike Reid as an assistant. He's been coaching at Texas Dreams.

Stanford's Brody Malone won the Bronze on the HB and Florida's Leanne Wong won the Bronze on FX as the 2021 World Championships wrapped up. Wong also placed 4th on BB. Future Gator Kayla DiCello placed fifth on FX and eight on BB. Former Sooner star and ex-NCAA champ Yul Moldauer was fifth on the PB. More...
Former PSU star, 2020 Nissen Award winner and two-time NCAA PH champ Stephen Nedoroscik became the first American to win the Gold Medal in the Pommel Horse, with his victory at the 2021 World Championships. US teammate and former Ohio State standout Alec Yoder finished fifth.
On women's VT, Nebraska commit Csenge Bacsksay of Hungary placed 5th. Link: Video
Former OU Sooner and NCAA champ Yul Moldauer overcame a shaky start on Rings to place 4th in the AA at the World Championships. Zhang Boheng of China edged Olympic champ Hashimoto Daiki for first.

Shaina Chen, a L10 from Winner's Gymnastics, has committed to Cornell for 2022-2023. She qualified to the Level 10 DP Nationals in 2021, after placing 8th AA at the 2021 Region 1 Regionals.
Florida's Leanne Wong won the silver medal in the AA at the World Championships in Japan, placed less than 0.3 behind champion Angelina Melnikova of Russia. Gator commit Kayla DiCello took the bronze.

Jessie DeZiel is a former student athlete and volunteer coach at Nebraska
Former OU Sooner Yul Moldauer qualified to the AA and PB finals at the World Championships in Japan. Stanford's Brody Malone, the reigning NCAA AA champ, qualified to the HB final. On PH, the Americans went 2-3, with Steven Nedoroscik (ex PSU) and Alec Yoder (ex Ohio State) advancing with great scores.
Former Illini Alex Diab fell on his rings dismount, unfortunately, in his first World Championships appearance.

Morgan Ross was previously a volunteer coach at Maryland.
Russia's Angelina Melnikova placed 1st in the preliminaries at the 2021 World Gymnastics Championships in Japan. Florida's Leann Wong and Florida commit Kayla DiCello qualified for the AA final and two events each. Wong was 2nd and DiCello 3rd in the AA, and both advanced to the finals on BB and FX. Nebraska commit Csenge Bacskay of Hungary qualified to the VT final in 5th place. She also just missed the AA final and is the first reserve.
Cal commit EmJae Franzier missed the FX final due to the 2 per country rule, while LSU commit Konnor McClain also just missed the BB final after finishing 8th.
