NCAA'ers at Canadian Nationals

 Incoming UCLA recruit Brooklyn Moors placed 3rd AA and 1st on beam.  Incoming UGA recruit Haley DeJong placed 6th AA.  Bama's Shallon  Olsen competed three events and placed 2nd on vault and 4th on floor.

Scores

Comforte was a standout Bruin herself and she has held various coaching positions.

Arkansas has announced the hiring of Chris Bogantes and Chris Brooks as assistants.  Bogantes has been an assistant at Illinois and Utah State, in addition to stints with SEMO, Ball State, TWU, and LSU.  Brooks has been an assistant with the OU Men and the Nebraska Women's squads.

CMU Promotes MacDonald to Head Coach

CMU has announced that Christine MacDonald has been promoted to Head Coach.  She's been with the program for 25 years, first as an athlete and then as an assistant.

SPU has anounced the promotion of Sarah Marshall to Head Coach.  She's been an assistant at SPU since 2010.  As Sarah Sullivan, she competed for SPU and won 8 All-America Awards.  She was also a former Division II Gymnast of the Year.

Former CSUF Hall of Famer and AIAW All-American (BB, FX) Carol "Lefty Johnson" passed away Saturday, according to a tweet by Cal-State Fullerton.  Johnston's pioneering achievements are especially notable as she lacked a complete right arm but that challenge did not prevent her from becoming a top AAer.  She had been battling early onset Altzheimer's.

Arileyah Harris of Champions Gymnastics has committed to EMU for 2019-2020.

Nebraska has picked up Robert Ladanyi as an assistant.  The former Utah assistant previuosly was an assistant at DU and Florida.

Stanford's Swircek Announces Retirement

Stanford has announced the retirement of Associate Head Coach Chris Swircek. He has been with the program for 15 years, and was a two-time Regional NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year.  The former San Jose State Spartan athlete will continue on as a volunteer assistant and camp director.

UCLA Promotes Waller to Head Coach

UCLA has made it official and has elevated Associate Head Coach Chris Waller to Head Coach.  He's been on the coaching staff for 17 years.  The former Bruin athlete was an NCAA champion, US Champion and Olympian.

Men's JO Nationals

The Men's JO Nationals were held this past weekend in Reno and champions were crowned in the Junior Olympic and Junior Elite levels.  Here are some of the NCAA related results:

2019 NCAA team, vault and AA champ Maggie Nichols was named the 2019 Honda Award winner for gymnastics.  In total, she is a six time champion, including the back-to-back AA champ.

Utah has announced the hiring of Garrett Griffeth as an assistant coach.  His wife, Courtney McCool Griffeth, will be a volunteer assistant and choreographer.  They join the Utes from Arkansas, where they spent the last year.  Prior to that they were at TWU. 

The couple replaces Robert Ladanyi, the former assistant, and BJ Das, the former volunteer choreographer, who left to pursue other opportunities.  Previously, Carly Dockendorf was named the other assistant.
