The SimGym for Collegiate Gymnastics Game |
Members of the OOBNess Collegiate Gymnastics Forum and the College Gymnastics Board originally created a modified version of SimGym, run on a weekly basis throughout the season. It is managed and run through a Yahoo! group. The game basically involves "teams" of athletes for each player, who compete weekly for the highest team score. Lineups for each week are selected by a deadline. The next week, scores are averaged and tallied based on the results of the week's competitions. Weekly ranking lists are compiled, and at the end of the season, an overall winner is declared. Ready? To signup, please read the Rules for the game and the draft. Once you are ready, join this Yahoo Group. You'll be assigned to a group once signups are complete. Collegiate SimGym Rules - 2008 SimGym is administered via a Yahoo! Group. A moderator and statistician is designated for each game. Teams: Each player selects a roster comprised of draftees and open selections. The exact number of draftees and open selections are determined prior to the start of the season. Rules for the draft are published separately. This year's rules are available at this link. Lineups: Each week, each player creates a lineup of competitors from their team roster. The player designates six gymnasts and two alternates (alternates in rank order) per event. Rosters must be published to the group list by 12 noon PST on Thursday of each competitive week. Each player is responsible for verifying the competitive readiness of their team. Injuries: Injuries to team members that occur after Jan 1st, 2008 are an unfortunate reality. No replacements are allowed after this date. Weekly Competition: Weekly scores are tallied to determine weekly winners and to maintain a running average. A week is defined as from Thursday 12 pm PST through to the next week. Weekly scores are tabulated starting the first competition week in 2008 and extending through “Conference Championship” weekend. Scores will also be tabulated during the first week of 2008, as a trial run. Scores: Scores are determined by taking five scores per event. Scores of individual competitors are determined by the highest of her event scores in meets competed during the week. The week is defined from Thursday of the week prior to the weekend to the Wednesday following (inclusive). If a gymnast on a primary lineup position does not compete or complete an event in any competition, the alternate’s score shall be used. Alternate scores shall count in priority order as listed in the lineup. If less than five gymnasts compete, for whatever reason, the player shall record a ZERO in the team total for the missing score. Score Tabulation: Each player is responsible for tabulating their own team’s score and posting the scores to the Yahoo Group. An optional Excel spreadsheet is available to aid in score tabulation. Its use is not mandatory. The group shall designate a Statistician who will be responsible for tallying weekly winners and to provide weekly rankings of Running Averages. Season Average: The Season Average shall be the average of the top EIGHT team scores tallied during the season. Each week, a Running Average shall be published. After eight weeks, a Season Average shall be published. Final Winner: The final winner is the player with the highest Season Average. Arbitration: The moderator will serve to arbitrate all issues as they arise. Golden Rule: Have fun and enjoy! |
