World Championships: Event Finals Day 2

Stanford's Brody Malone won the gold on HB in the last event at the World Championships.  The mutli NCAA and US champion and Olympian was the first US man to win on the event in more than 40 years.  On the Women's FX, UCLA's Jordan Chiles was 2nd while Oregon State's Jade Carey tied for third.  Jessica Gardirova of the UK won the Gold.  On the BB, Florida commit Skye Blakely was 5th, despite a fall on her side aerial.

World Championships: Event Finals, Day 1

Oregon State's Jade Carey won the Gold on the VT to lead the US at the first day of the Event Finals at the Liverpool World Championships.  UCLA's Jordan Chiles won the Silver on VT while Shilese Jones won a Silver on UB with an upgraded set for Finals.  For the men, former PSU star and reigning World Champion Stephen Nedoroscik was fifth on his specialty.  Donnell Whittenburg was 8th on R.

World Championships: Men's AA Final

Stanford's Brody Malone hit 6 for 6 and finished 4th at the World Championship Men's AA Final.  He was just 0.3 from the Bronze.  Frosh teammate Asher Hong finished 6th AA, marking the first time the US Men have placed two in the top 10 since 2003.  Olympic champion Daiki Hashimoto of Japan won the title.

World Championships: Women's AA Final

Brazil's Rebecca Andrade won the Gold Medal in the AA, ahead of the USA's Shilese Jones in 2nd.  Oregon State's Jade Carey was 6th.  Andrade powered to the lead in the first rotation with her exemplary Cheng vault.

World Championships: Men's Team Final

The US Men finished fifth at the World Championships, just behind Italy.  China rebounded from a rough prelim session to take the win in an error plagued final.  Japan was 2nd and Great Britain far behind in third.  The US Men were led by Stanford frosh Asher Hong and fifth year senior Brody Malone, plus junior Colt Walker.  Former PSU star Stephen Nedoroscik contributed on Pommels.

World Championships: Women's Team Final

The US women won their sixth consecutive world team title, a record.  The US team included UCLA's Jordan Chiles, Oregon State's Jade Carey, Florida's Leanne Wong, Florida commit Skye Blakely and Florida commit Shilese Jones.  Canada won a historic bronze medal, upsetting an error-prone field of favored team medalists.  That squad featured Nebraska's Emma Spence, former CMU star Denelle Pedrick and Iowa commit Sydney Turner (corrected).  Great Britain won a historic silver and all three teams punched their tickets to Paris in 2024.

Stanford frosh Asher Hong and teammate Brody Malone, a fifth year senior, led the US to a third place finish in the qualifying round at the 2022 World Championships.  Hong qualified for the AA final in 6th position while Malone qualified in 8th.  He also qualified to the HB final.  Former PSU star and defending World Champion Stephen Nedoroscik was 2nd in PH qualifying.  Stanford's Colt Walker also contributed to the team qualifying effort.  The fifth American, Donnell Whittenburg made the Rings final.  

The World Championships kicked off this weekend with the Women's Qualifying rounds on Saturday and Sunday.  The US qualified to the team final in first, led by Florida commit's Shilese Jones' 2nd place AA finish.  She also qualified for the UB final and is the first reserve on BB.  Oregon State's Jade Carey was the 3rd AA qualifier, and leads the field on VT.  She also qualified to the FX final.  UCLA's Jordan Chiles was 12th AA (non qualifying due to the two per country rule and some two falls on BB) but qualified to the finals on VT and FX.  Florida commit Skye Blakely qualified to the BB final in 2nd position.  Florida's Leanne Wong competed on the VT, placing 9th.   Brazil's Rebecca Andrade was first in the AA and qualified to the finals on UB, BB and FX.  She shockingly missed the VT final, where she is favored, due a miss on her Yurchenko entry.
