The NCAA Code Modifications outline the variances between the underlying Women's Development Program Code of Points and the NCAA Modifications. This season, the modifications are very slight. In fact, the biggest change may only be in the graphics and fonts used in the actual document.
The NCAA has added a 0.05 deduction for failure to hold the ending position on VT, UB and BB. A similar deduction exists on FX. This should help cut down on the "college stick" and "step and salute" covers used to hide unsure landings. On a minor note, the also NCAA clarified that 0.1 in Dance Combination or Dance Difficulty Bonus (D+) is required on FX. The switch side 3/4 is rated a D.
And that's it.
However, there were a few changes to the underlying Women's Development Program Code of Points that will flow through to the NCAA. The following changes are the most interesting:
a. a 0.15 deduction for a "medium step" on dismounts, VT landings and landings on acro skills on FX and BB
b. the deduction on vault for "prescribed lateral axis turn begun too early" has been reduced from "up to 0.5" to "up to 0.3".
c. the deduction for under rotation of vaults will be changed from a "flat 0.1" to "up to 0.1". This means the judges will be able to differentiate between a slight under rotation and a more severe error.
d. a wider range of mounts on BB can now satisfy the compositional requirement for acro skills in different directions.
e. it is clarified that a side somi with one foot take off is not a salto element on FX
Certain skills were added or changed in value, but remain more rare for use in competition.
