Auburn 196.825 at Alabama 197.325

Lauren Beers tied for event titles on UB, BB and FX to lead the Crimson Tide to a win over rival AU.  Beers tied for the AA title with AU's Caitlin Atkinson.  On UB, Bama's Katie Bailey shared the crown.  On BB, Bama's Keely McNeer shared the title with Atkinson and AU temmates Lexus Demers and Megan Walker.  On FX, Bama's Kaitlyn Clark and Aja Sims shared the title.  AU's Demers won the VT.

Men's: Ohio State 431.4 at PSU 443.6

PSU rolled to a big score and the win, taking five of six events as a team, as well as six individual titles.  PSU's Trevor Howard led the way, winning the AA with an 88.1.  He also took the rings and the PB.  Teammates Christian McSwain, Craig Hernandez, and Matthew Felleman won the FX, PH and HB, respectively.  The Buckeye's Alex Wilson took the vault.

SEMO 192.625 at Illinois State 191.575

SEMO downed host Illinois State, at the host's annual Pink Meet.  Ashley Thomas won the VT and Alyssa Tucker took the AA (38.7) to lead SEMO to the win.  Illinois State's Amanda Mohler won the UB and BB to lead her squad.  Teammate Danci Cha won the FX.

Winona State 183.975 at UW Oshkosh 184.15

UW Oshkosh narrowly held off visiting Winona State.  Krystal Walker led UW-Oshkosh, winning the AA with a 37.225 and taking the BB title.  Teammate Kathyrn Pipp won the UB, while teammate Danielle Turner tied for the FX title with Winona State's Brooke Hiestand.  Winona State's Jade Donaldson won the VT.

UGA 196.85 at LSU 198.075

Rheagan Courville of LSU dominated the meet, powering LSU to over a 198.  The Tigers achieved this score despite missing star Jessie Jordan, who was out with a muscle injury.  Courville won the VT, UB and FX (9.975) outright en route to a 39.825 AA win.  Courville also tied for the BB title with teammate Ashleigh Gnat and Erin Macadaeg, as the Tigers rolled to a 49.625 on the event.  Courville nailed her standing Arabian and floated her double Arabian high and square (she had been lopsided in previous meets).  Teammate Gnat popped a big double twisting Yurchenko, one that showed an early opening.

Florida 197.2 at Arkansas 195.375

Florida frosh Ericha Fassbender stepped in to win the AA with a 39.375 as a short-handed Gator squad downed Arkansas.  Fassbender also shared the UB title with teammates Bridgette Caquatto and Claire Boyce, plus Arkansas frosh Paige Zaziski.  Zaziski shared the BB title with Boyce and Gator Rachel Spicer.  UF's Alex McMurtry and Kytra Hunter won the VT and FX, respectively.

Samantha Wiekamp, Amy Enright, and Elsa Spitzmueller won the VT, UB and FX to lead UW La Crosse to a win at the John Zuerlein Invitational. UW Stout's Kelly Huseman won the BB.

Oklahoma 198.15 at Iowa State 195.675

OU broke 198, on the road, as they easily downed host ISU.  Chayse Capps led OU, winning the BB and tying for the VT title with teammate Haley Scaman.  Teammate McKenzie Wofford won the UB.  Sooner frosh Brenna Dowell and Ali Jackson tied for the VT title at 9.95.

UW Eau Claire 187.85 at Centenary 190.325

Centenary defeated UW Eau Claire, in Shreveport, led by Ashley White's AA victory.  She posted a season high 38.75.  White won the VT and UB while teammate Kellie Slater won the BB.  UW Eau Claire's Elizabeth Stubbs won the FX.

NIUS 194.025 at CMU 193.925

NIU defeated host CMU for the first time since 2008, despite being shorthanded.  Megan Greenfield led NIU again, winning BB.  For CMU, Kylie Fagan won another UB title while Halle Moraw won another FX title.  Teammates Rachel Carr and Kirsten Petzold tied for the VT title.

NC State 195.075 at Pittsburgh 194.15

NC State defeated host Pittsburgh, led by Michaela Woodford's 39.175 AA win.  She also took the BB.  Teammate Chelsea Knight won the VT.  For Pitt, Lindsay Offutt won the FX and teammate Taylor Laymon won the UB.

Kentuck 195.825 at Missouri 195.15

Kentucky's Montana Whittle and Shannon Mitchell tied for the BB title as UK downed host Mizzou.  Teammate Taylor Puryear tied with Missouri frosh Kennedi Harris and Shauna Miller for the FX title.  Miller won the UB, VT and AA (39.325).

Ohio State 195.65 at Bowling Green 195.2

Ohio State overcame a strong effort by host BGSU to notch a win.  For Ohio State, frosh Stefanie Merkle and Alexis Mattern won VT and FX, respectively.  Teammate Tenille Funches added a beam title.  For BGSU, Alyssa Nocella won the AA with a 39.175.  Teammates Laura Mitchell and Amanda Lievendag tied for the UB title.

2017-18 Noonan to Illinois

Kylie Noonan, L10 at Midwest Gymnastics in Minnesota, has committed to Illinois.   She finished 3rdAA at her 2014 state meet, 5th AA (1st FX) at regionals and qualified to JOs.

We're a full month into the season and we're going to take a break from our regular weekly recap to take a look at how judges score routines.  But rather than explaining the basics, we are offering a course in "Scoring 201":  an intermediate look at some of the deductions beyond the obvious and clear deductions taken by the judges.  We are hoping to shed light on where the judges in more strictly judged meets are taking their deductions, for fans that may be unfamiliar with the more subtle points of scoring.  We're not experts, but this will hopefully serve as an intermediate lesson on some of the key things that you can usually watch for.
