2011-2012: Hogan to Pitt

Bri Hogan of the Geddart's Twistars has committed to Pittsburgh for 2011-2012, according to a site submission.  The L10 placed 18th(t) and 10th(t) UB in the Junior C division at the 2009 L10 Nationals.

2011-2012: Flores to Arizona

Allie Flores has committed to Arizona, according to a site submission.  Flores is a L10 who trains at IGI.  At the 2009 Region V L10 Regionals, she placed 17th AA, 4th on VT and 3rd(t) on FX.  She also placed 16th AA at the 2008 Region V L10 Regionals, Jr. C.

LSU Adds Garcia for 2010

LSU has added Mexican National Team Member Ericka Garcia to their squad for 2010.  She is a veteran of two World Championships, a Pan Am Games and numerous international competitions.  Most recently, she placed 5th AA at the Hungarian Grand Prix event last month.  She also won a Gold on VT and Bronze on BB at the Joaquim Blume World Cup event in 2008.

Sarena Bumbarger (Seminole, Fla.), Laura Jollie (St. Paul, Minn.), Dani Levy (New Port Richey, Fla.) and Kelsey Mazur (LaGrange, Ill.) signed Letters of Intent with MSU last week.  They'll debut in the 2010-2011 season.  The commits of all four were covered in prior news items.

BYU Signs Four

L10s Megan Bain (Utah), Leslie Bell (Florida), Kaycee Gassaway (Washington) and Raquel Willman (Arizona) have signed Letters of Intent to compete for BYU beginning with the 2010-2011 season.  The commits of Bain, Bell and Gassaway were covered in prior news items.

Willman is a L10 from the Phoenix Gymnastics Academy (PGA) in Arizona.  This past spring, she captured the Regional title on UB at the Region I L10 Regionals, placing 14th AA.  At the 2008 L10 Natonals, she placed 30th AA.   Link:  YouTube.com FX

Boise State Signs Three

Rebekah Gher, Arizona, Alessandra Cinfio, Illinois, and Kristen Lieberman, Illinoissigned National Letters of Intent to compete for Boise State for the 2010-2011 season.  The commits of Cinfio and Lieberman were covered in prior news item.

Gher is a L10 from Oasis Gymnastics.  She tied for 27th AA and 4th on BB at the 2009 L10 Nationals, Sr. C.  She was also 10th AA and 3rd on BB at the 2008 Region I L10 Regionals.

Kentucky Signs Six for 2010

Brittany Canfield, Karissa Carpenter, Holly Cunningham, Audrey Harrison, Paige Krall and Kayla Sienkowski signed with Kentucky for the 2010 season.  The commites of Canfield, Cunningham and Krall were covered in prior news items.

Carpenter is a L10 who trains at Deveau's.  As a L9 in 2009, she placed 15th AA and 2nd on UB at the Region V L9 Regionals.  Link:  Personal Web

Michigan (M) Adds Five

Michigan men's program has signed five athletes:  Alex Bubnov, Jordan Gaarenstroom, Dylan James, Sam Mikulak, and Michael Myler.

Bubnov finished 17th AA at the 2009 VISA (US) Championships.  He trains at Surgent's Elite.

Gaarenstroom finished 11th AA at the 2008 VISA Championships.  The SCATS-trained athlete is coming back from injury this season.  Link:  YouTube.com Channel

Mikulak, also from SCATS, is a Junior National Team member who recently took 4th AA at the Jr. Pan Am Championships.  He placed 2nd AA at the 2009 VISA Championships.  Interview on Gymnastike.org

Myler, from All American in Utah, placed 53rd AA at the 2009 Junior Olympic Nationals.

SUU Signs Two

Southern Utah has signed Jennifer Nguyen and Doniele Volopich, according to a site submission.  Volopich's commit was covered in a prior news item.  Nguyen is a L10 from All Olympia in southern California.  At the 2009 Region I L10 Regionals, she placed 11th AA.  She also placed 9th AA at the 2008 Region I Regionals.

NCSU Inks Two

Georgia tops the Women's Preseason Coaches Poll, pulling down 13 first place votes.  Utah was 2nd, with six first place votes.  Bama was third, but 8 voters rated them #1.  Florida, in 4th, and UCLA, in 5th, each pulled down two first place votes.  LSU, Stanford, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Oregon State made up places 6 through 10.  For the rest of the Top 25, keep on reading...
