GWU Head Coach Stephanie Stoicovy-Worrell has stepped down to pursue other interests.  She had been as assistant since 2015, an Associate Head Coach since 2022, and Head Coach since 2025.  She was also a standout athlete at GWU and the EAGL Head Coach of the Year in 2025.

Texas State has announced the formation of the first Division I Women's Gymnastics program in Texas.  Based in San Marco, the new team will begin competing in the 2027-2028 season as part of the new Pac-12.  A search for a new Head Coach is underway, and Olympians Carly Patterson and Jordyn Wieber are serving on the inaugural steering committee.

Arkansas has hired Zan Jones as an assistant coach.  He was an assistant the last two seasons at TWU.  He was also a volunteer assistant at Talledega, and a student manager at Alabama.

The Canadian Championships wrapped up with the second day of the women's senior high performance (senior elite) category, with many NCAA-related athletes in action.  Lia-Monica Fontaine (2028) won the AA (54.05), VT and FX, placed 3rd on UB and 4th on BB.  Utah signee Gabrielle Black placed 2nd AA (53.65), 1st on BB, 3rd on VT and FX and 4th on UB.  In third was LSU commit Lia Redick (2027), who won FX, placed 2nde on VT and 3rd on BB.  UCLA commit Zoe Tsaprailis (2027) was 4th AA.   Denver signee Stephanie Gatin was 11th.  Iowa's Aurelie Tran, after a strong first day, competed 3 events, placing 2nd on UB.  Minnesota's Ava Stewart placed 4th on BB, while also competing 3 events.       

In the National Open category, an elite development level, Utah State signee Leona Gentien placed 1st AA and 1st on UB.  Rutgers signee Reese Wilson placed 4th AA and 2nd on UB.

BYU Hires Evans as an Assistant

BYU has hired former standout All-American Shannon Evans (nee Hortman) as an assistant.  She had been co-head coach at Magic City Gymnastics in Billings, MT.

Canadian Championships: Day 1

The 2026 Canadian Championships are underway.  In the Women's Senior High Performance (elite) category, Lia-Monica Fontaine posted a big 54.35 to lead the field by 1.55 points.  2nd was Utah signee Gabrielle Black while Iowa's Aurelie Tran was 3rd.  LSU commit Lia Reddick placed 5th, with Denver signee Stephanie Gatin in 8th.     

In the finals/Day 2 of the CCP10 (Level 10), Danica Signarowski (2025) won the AA with a big 37.983, taking 1st on UB and BB and 2nd on FX.  Sydney Thomas (2028) was 2nd AA and 1st on FX and Vanessa Wilson was 3rd (2026).  NIU signee Josie Maryschak was 4th and 1st on VT.  SUU signee Sienna Fretwell was 5th AA, and CMU signee Chloe Callo 7th.

Illinois (W) Hire Rall as an Assistant

Illinois has hired former Nebraska assistant Montana Rall as a new assistant coach.  As Montana Whittle, she competed at Kentucky.

PSU has announced that Men's Head Coach Randy Jepson's contract has not been renewed, and Associate Head Coach Tony Beck will take over as Head Coach.  Jepson had been with PSU for 45 years, and 35 as head coach.  Beck has been the Associate Head Coach since 2023, after seven seasons as an assistant.

Nebraska Hires Wargo as an Assistant

Nebraska has hired Brett Wargo as an assistant coach. Wargo is a USA National Team coach and top club coach from Ascend Gymnastics.  He is also co-founder of Best Darn Gymnastics, which holds popular clinics and college showcases.

BYU Retains Evanson and Giles

BYU has retained Broogan Evanson and Makenna Giles as part of the new coaching staff. Both were existing assistant coaches. Evanson was also promoted to Associate Head Coach

Georgia has hired Laurent Landi as the Associate Head Coach.  Landi is of course the husband of Georgia Head Coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi.  Since her hire, Landi has been consulting and coach in with the Mexican and French National Teams.

OU assistant coach Ashley Kerr has resigned after nine seasons as a volunteer and paid assistant coach.  She is being replaced by former Sooner star Olivia Troutman.  Troutman spent the last year as an assistant at USU.

The Women's Development Program (WDP) Level 10 Nationals are this weekend, and many of the future stars of the NCAA are in competition for spots on the WDP National Team and to attract the attention of recruiters.  Here are the Top Ten AA finishers and Top Three event winners per age groups that represent the Class of 2026 and 2027, with their colleges identified, if available.  The article will be updated periodically through the weekend.  

Many future stars of the NCAA are competing this weekend in the Women's Development Program Level 10 Nationals.  We'll be updating this report with the top results of the various sessions from this weekend, with the athlete's future school identified.
