World Championships: Women's Qualifying -- NCAA Related Results

The World Championships kicked off this weekend with the Women's Qualifying rounds on Saturday and Sunday.  The US qualified to the team final in first, led by Florida commit's Shilese Jones' 2nd place AA finish.  She also qualified for the UB final and is the first reserve on BB.  Oregon State's Jade Carey was the 3rd AA qualifier, and leads the field on VT.  She also qualified to the FX final.  UCLA's Jordan Chiles was 12th AA (non qualifying due to the two per country rule and some two falls on BB) but qualified to the finals on VT and FX.  Florida commit Skye Blakely qualified to the BB final in 2nd position.  Florida's Leanne Wong competed on the VT, placing 9th.   Brazil's Rebecca Andrade was first in the AA and qualified to the finals on UB, BB and FX.  She shockingly missed the VT final, where she is favored, due a miss on her Yurchenko entry.

Current NU Husker Emma Spence, former CMU standout Denelle Pedrick and 2023 Iowa commit Sydney Turner helped Canada to place 8th and qualify for the team final.  Cal commit Ondine Achampong of Great Britain helped her team qualify for 2nd position into the team final, and was 15th in the AA (did not advance due to the two per country rule).

Nebraska frosh Csenge Bakcsay of the Czech Republic was 57th AA while Illinois commit Kaia Tanskanen of Finland was 48th AA.  Cal commit Annalise Newman-Achee of Trinidad & Tabago was 110th.
