Brittany Franklin, L10 at Metroplex in Texas, has committed to Denver. Last season Brittany won the Tiger Classic (1st AA; 1st UB/FX), the Alamo Classic (1st AA; 1st FX) and the Manhattan Classic (1st AA; 1st UB/BB). She finished 4th AA at her state meet, 6th AA at her regional meet and qualified to JOs.
Robyn Bernard, L10 at Hill's in Maryland, has committed to West Virginia. Robyn won the 2012 Carribbean Invite (1st AA; 1st V/BB) and the New Orleans Jazz Invite (1st AA; 1st V). She was crowned state beam champion and placed 2nd AA at her state meet. She placed 9th AA at regionals and qualified to the NIT where she finished 9th AA.
Nichelle Christopherson has announced via Facebook that she has committed to Florida. The L10 from GAGE in Missouri competed for Byers in California in 2010 and 2011. Last season she competed one event at the Dragon Invite, placing 1st on bars.

Katie Simpson, a L10 from Seawind Gymnastics, has committed to TWU for 2013-2014. She qualified to the Region I L10 Regionals in 2012, in her first year as a L10.

Amanda Dickerson, a level 10 from Hopes and Dreams Gymnastics in Arkansas has committed to TWU. In 2012, Amanda qualified to her regional meet, finishing 16th AA.
Alexa Phillip, L10 from Galaxy Gymnastics in New York, has accepted a scholarship offer from West Virginia. Last season she won the regional bars title on her way to a 2nd place AA finish, qualifying to JOs.
Erin Macadaeg, L10 at San Mateo Gymnastics in California, has committed to LSU. Last season Erin won the Golden State Classic. In the post season, she placed 1st on beam at her state meet, placed 2nd AA at regionals and she earned the national beam title at JOs.
Abbie Epperson, at Metroplex in Texas, has committed to Maryland. Last season Abbie finished 8th AA at her state meet and 7th AA at regionals, qualiying to JOs.
It's been eleven years since the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. Today we honor the heroes of September 11th, 2001, including those who lost their lives. One of those people, Mari-Rae Sopper, closely touched the collegiate gymnastics community. As you may know, Mari-Rae Sopper was Head Coach of the University of California, Santa Barbara's women's gymnastics team. She was also a former standout collegiate gymnast and team captain for Iowa State. Many of you knew her in the capacity of coach, teammate, competitor, colleague and friend.
Emma Engler, L10 at Shonshine Gymnastics in North Carolina, has committed to Auburn. In 2012, Emma finished 1st AA at the Tiger Paw Classic (1st V/FX) and the Gasparilla Classic. She qualified to regionals where she was crowned regional vault champ.
Kaitlyn Duranczyk, L10 from Edge Gymnastics in California, has committed to compete for Washington in 2013-2014. In 2012, she competed and won two events at the Byers Invitational and she finished 8th AA at the Golden State Classic.
Dominiquea Trotter, L10 at Monmouth in New Jersey, has committed to Maryland according to Gym-Style.com, her webmaster. Last season she placed 3rd AA at her state meet and qualified to regionals.
Isabelle Castillo, L10 at the California Gymnastics Academy, has committed to Cal Berkeley. In 2011, Isabelle won her state and regional meets and placed 2nd AA at JOs. She placed 10th AA at 2010 JOs and won the 2009 Western Championships.
Penn State has hired Carlos Vazquez as an assistant for the men's squad. A former athlete at Temple, he has served as the head coach for boys at Capital (VA).

Jessica Nesis, L10 at Gymnastics East in Bellevue, Washington has committed to The University of Washington. Last season she placed 1st on UB, 4th V and 6th AA at State, 3rd on V and 3rd on FX at Region 2 regionals, 1st on UB at the Seattle Open and 3rd AA at the Charity Choice Classic. In 2011, as a first year level 10, she placed 4th on FX at regionals and 3rd on FX at JO NIT.
Temple is welcoming five frosh for the 2013 season (W): Tara Kilkenny, Reagan Oliveri, Hannah Popper, Danielle Vahala, and Mary Kate Walch. The commits of Kilkenny, Popper and Walch were covered in prior news items. Oliveri is a L10 from Cherry Hill who qualified to Regionals in 2010. Vahala is a L10 from Summerville who placed 21st AA at the 2012 Region VIII L10 Regionals.
