2023-4 Emily Krzciok to WMU

Emily Krzciok, Mid Michigan Gymnastics, competed three events at her '23 state and regional meets.  She placed 2nd on beam at regionals.

Stanford has won the 2023 Men's NCAA Team title with a 422.458. That's four straight for the Cardinal, anbd 9th overall. Michigan kept chase with a 419.889. Illinois was 3rd at 415.59, OU 4th at 414.024, NU 5th at 412.4257 and PSU 6th at 412.057.  Michigan Fred Richard won the AA with an 85.998.   Richard also won titles on PB and HB.  He also tied for the top mark on FX with Stanford's Nicolas Kuebler, but Kuebler won the tiebreaker to take the title.  Stanford's Asher Hong posted a 15.333 to win Vault while Illinois' Ian Skirkey posted a 15.133 to win PH.  Illini Ashton Anaya is the champion on R.

OU Wins the 2023 Women's Team Title

OU posted a 198.3875 to hold off Florida's 198.2375 to win the 2023 NCAA Team Title.  That is the Sooner's sixth title in the last 9 Championship finals (2014,2016,2017, 2019, 2022, 2023).  The Sooners posted a 49.675 to hold off Florida's 49.7125 on UB.  In fact, Florida outscored OU on VT, UB and BB but came up short on the FX.  Utah started off strong on FX but fell out of contention on VT, where they posted just a 49.15 after being unable to stick their key vaults.  LSU was out of contention early after falling behind on UB and BB. 

OU posted a 415.491 to edge host PSU's 415.29 and win semi-final #2 at the Men's NCAA Championships.  Michigan was not far behind in third at 413.992.  All three teams advance to Saturday's finals.

Michigan's Paul Juda won the Nissen-Emery Award as the nation's top senior gymnast.  He has not been able to compete this season due to injury.

Stanford posted a 421.488 to win the first Semi-Final at the Men's NCAA Championships.  Nebraska was 2nd at 410.124 and Illinois was 3rd at 405.524.   All three teams advance to the finals, along with various individual qualifiers.   Air Force posted a 399.222 for 4th, followed by Navy (392.491) and Army (384.523).

The USA Gymnastics Development Program Level 10 Regionals are this weekend, creating a packed few days of competition.  The future NCAAers are all trying to advance to the WDP Nationals in May.  Here are the Top 7 finishers (over 35.0 AA) and event winners, along with their schools.   The Top 7 automatically advance to Nationals (as long as they post a 35+ AA).  Additional AAers will be assigned where there are less than seven qualifiers from other regions, based on the three regions with the largest number of competitors.  After the Regional Teams have been filled out, two additional AAers (over 35.0) for each age group in the Region will be added as Wildcard competitors.  In addition, the top five event scorers from each Region (across all age groups) will be invited as a Wildcard Individual Event Specialists.  We are showing only the 2023 and 2024 grads.

NCAA Individual Champions Crowned

At the conclusion of the second semi-final, NCAA Champions were crowed in the individual events.  AA:  Maile O'Keefe, Utah, 39.7625  VT:  Olivia Tratuman, OU, 9.95  UB:  Jordan Chiles, UCLA, 10   BB:  O'Keefe, 10  FX:  Chiles, UCLA, 9.9875

NCAA Semi-Final #2: Utah, OU Advance!

Utah posted a 198.225 to win Semi-Final #2.  OU was just behind at 198.1625.  UCLA was 3rd at 197.9125, held back by just a 49.175 on VT.  Kentucky was 4th at 197.125. Utah's Maile O'Keefe won the AA with a 39.7625, ahead of UCLA's Jordan Chiles (39.7125) and LSU's Haleigh Bryant (39.6875 in the 1st session).

LSU stayed the most consistent overall to win Semi-Final #1 with a score of 197.475.  Florida was second at 197.4, after posting a shakey (but no-fall) 49.0875 on BB.  UB was Cal's problem event, with a counting fall while DU struggled on BB (48.55).  LSU's Haleigh Bryant was the top AAer in Semi-Final 1 at 39.6875.  Top marks by event:  VT - Lynnzee Brown, DU & Courtney Blackson, Boise St 9.925;  UB - Trinity Thomas, UF, 9.95;  BB -- Chloe Widner, Stanford 9.95;  FX -- Leanne Wong, UF and Aleah Finnegan, LSU 9.9625.  The AA and event champions will be determined after Semi-Final #2 tonight.

OU junior Meilei Sullivan has been award the NCAA Elite 90 Award for Women's Gymnastics.  The award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the Championships.  She holds a 4.0 GPA with a major in Arts & Sciences Planned Major.
