2021 Top 25 Season Previews: #1 to #25

The COVID-19 pandemic cut last season short and has raised new challenges for 2021.  With the season about to get started, we've prepared a new set of Season Previews.  We're covering the entire Top 25 teams, as ranked by the Coaches' Preseason Poll.  In each Preview, we've summarized the team's returning routines, their lost routines, their returning starters and the rest of their roster, with a special focus on their newcomers.  We'll also give a brief overview preview of their prospects and challenges.

2021-22 Janelle Lopez to SEMO

Janelle Lopez finished 1st on bars and 5th AA at her 2019 state meet, but did not compete the rest of the post season.  Her 2020 season included AA wins at the Gym Quarters Invitational and the Gasparilla Classic.  She competes for Coast Elite Gymnastic.

2021-22 Isabella Hughes to Rutgers

Isabella Hughes from High Point Gymnastics has committed to Rutgers.  She qualified to 2019 JO, finishing 47th AA.

2022-23 Gianna Masella to Iowa

Gianna Masella from Tampa Bay Turners has committed to Iowa.  She qualified to 2019 regionals and finished 11th AA.  She had several event wins in her short 2020 season.

2021-22 Katherine Weyhmiller to SJSU

Katherine Weyhmiller from Adrenaline Gymnastics has committed to SJSU.  She competed two events at her 2019 state meet and may have been injured.  She was competing all events as season 2020 progressed.

2022-23 Lily Clapper to Michigan

Lily Clapper from Gym America has committed to Michigan.  She qualified to 2019 JOs and was having a promising 2020 season.

Florida tops the WCGA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the women.  They garnered 16 first place votes, the same as #2 Oklahoma.  LSU edged Utah for 3rd.  Denver, tied for 8th overall, garnered one 1st placed vote.  The full poll appears below.

2022-23 Amani Herring to PSU

Amani Herring from North Stars has committed to PSU.  She qualified to 2019 JOs and finished 12th AA.

2021-2022: Lewis to EMU

Emma Lewis, a L10 at Ascend and formerly at Twistars, has committed to EMU for 2021-2022.   In 2020, she won the AA, VT and FX in her session at the Gasparilla Classic.  She also qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in 2018.

2022-23 eMjae Frazier to Cal

eMjae Fraaier has announced her commitment to Cal. She is a National Team member who competes for Parkettes.  She competed at the 2019 US Championships in the junior division and placed 9th AA, 6th BB, 8th FX.

2021-22 Samantha Matthes to Cortland

Samantha Matthes from Apex Gymnastics has committed to Cortland.  In 2020 she placed 2nd AA and in the top 5 on all events at the Excalibur Cup.

2022-23 Polina Belanovshki to Towson

Polina Belanovski from from Swiss Turners has committed to Towson.  She qualified to 2019 regionals, finishing 1st on beam and 9th AA.

2021-22 Kaylie Bokey to Bowling Green

Kaylie Bokey from Gymniks has committed to Bowling Green.  She qualified to 2019 regionals and finished 18th AA.  She competed several meets in 2020 and won her session of the Elevate the Stage in February.

2021-22 Ashley Hay to Air Force

Ashley Hay from Mavericks Gymnastics has committed to Air Force.  In 2019 her 4th place AA regional finish qualified her to JOs, but she did not compete.  She competed several meets in 2020.
