Ariana Orrego will join the Iowa State team in the fall. Ariana has represented Peru internationally, including the last Olympics. In the US, she competes for Excalibur Gymnastics and is a two-time state AA champion. This season she won vault, beam and AA titles at her state meet. At regionals she placed 1st on beam and 2nd AA.
Oklahoma posted a 430.6 to win Session 2 of the Men's NCAA qualifier. Illinois was 2nd at 421.3 and Minnesota was 3rd at 420.1
Stanford posted a 420.45 to lead Session 1 at the Men's NCAA Championships. OhioState (414.65) and Nebraska (413.05) also advanced.
The Nissen-Emery Award is presented to the year's most outstanding male gymnast. This year's recipient is Akash Modi of Stanford. He is a past NCAA AA and event champion and a 2016 Olympic Alternate.
This year's nominee for the Honda Award are Chayse Capps (OU), Maggie Nichols (OU), Ashleigh Gnat (LSU) and Alex McMurtry (UF). The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2017 Honda Cup.
Tessie Zientek plans to join the Towson team for next season. She trains at Will-Moor in New Jersey. This season she placed 14th AA at her state meet and 8th AA at regionals.
Rachel Schuelke-Lombardi of West Coast Elite has committed to UC Davis. She placed 3rd AA at her 2017 SoCal meet and 18th AA at regionals.
Jaedyn Rucker, L10 from Desert Devils, has committed to Utah. Her 2017 season featured many AA wins and a trip to the Nastia Liukin Cup (three events). Her many event wins include vault wins in every regular season meet that she competed. She placed 2nd AA and 1st on FX at her state meet. She placed 1st AA and 1st on V at regionals.
Francis Bidwill, L10 from Desert Devils, has committed to Missouri. She was back this season after a break from gymnastics and accomplished mostly top three finishes over the course of the season. She placed 3rd AA at her state meet and she won the floor event (8th AA) at regionals.
The NCAA has announced future National and Regional sites for the years 2019-2022.
Samantha Betz, L10 at Fredericks in Maryland, is set to join the SUNY Cortland team next season. She recently finished 11th AA at her state meet and 13th AA at regionals.
OU powered to their third NCAA title, posting a 198.3875 to win the Super Six. LSU was 2nd at 197.7375, overtaking Florida's 197.7. UCLA was fourth at 197.2625 while Utah was fifth at 196.5875. Bama suffered through problems on UB and BB to post a 196 for sixth.
Gold Medal Gymnastics in Arizona has announced that Gabrielle Adams signed with SEMO this week. Gabrielle all top 5 finishes in the regular season this year, including a 1st place win at the Chicago Style. She placed 7th AA at states and 11th AA at regionals.
