Arkansas used a school record 49.6 on the floor to come from behind and defeat Bama. Amanda Wellick led Arkansas to the title, winning the floor and tying for the vault title with teammate Heather Elswick. She posted a 39.475 in the AA. Teammate Stephani Canizaro tied for the UB title with Bama's Lauren Beers. Bama's Aja Sims won the beam. The beam gave both teams some problems, with Arkansas edging Bama on the event 48.225 to 48.15.

WMU held off an improving Lindenwood squad by just 0.1. Jessie Peszek led WMU, winning the BB and the UB. Teammate Audry Merritt won the floor, while Bronco Kelsey Hood tied with Lindenwood's Valeri Ingui and Kierstin Sokolowski for the vault title. Lindenwood frosh Sokolowski won the AA with a 38.925.

Jessie Jordan of LSU posted a 39.525 AA win to lead LSU to a win over ASU and host Kentucky. Jordan tied for the BB title (with UK's Shannon Mitchell) and was one of eight gymnasts that shared the vault title. Teammate Lloimincia Hall hit for a 9.95 to win the floor, while Tiger Rheagan Courville won the UB title.

Washington's young squad outscored the Wolf Pack on every event as they posted a solid win. Allison Northey and Janae Janik each posted a 9.9 to win UB and BB, respectively. UW frosh Zoey Schaefer posted another win on the FX. For NC State, Brittni Watkins won the vault and posted an AA score of 39.2. UW once again employed no AAers.

Host UGA held off a fast rising Missouri program to take the win. They were led by Brandie Jay, who won the vault with a 9.95. Missouri stayed consistent for the win, using only five vaulters but avoiding a counting fall. UGA counted a fall on BB, where they were led by Ashlyn Broussard's win. Teammates Chelsea Davis and Mary Beth Box won UB and FX, respectively. Missouri's standout frosh Shauna Miller won the AA with a 39.2.

Gator Kytra Hunter won the FX and tied for the AA title, while super frosh Alex McMurtry scored a 10 in her first collegiate vault to lead the Gators to an opening win at home. Sophomore Bianca Dancose-Giambattisto won the UB with a 9.95. For AU, Caitlin Atkinson had a stellar meet, tying for the AA title and taking the BB.

Maryland defeated Minnesota on Thursday night, knocking off the #11 Gophers. They were led by senior Karen Tang, who tied a school record on the UB for a win on that event. Minesota was led once again by Lindsay Mable who won the Vault and FX, and the AA (38.85). Teammate Hannah Nordquist topped the beam.

Ursinus set team records on vault and floor en route to a win over visiting West Chester. Kelsey Jewel won the floor with a meet high 9.75 to lead Ursinus. Teammates Heather Brubaker and Kaelin Ruoss tied for the vault title, while Jillian Casarella won the beam. For West Chester, Majesta Valentine won the bars and the AA (38.45).

SUNY Brockport edged host SUNY Cortland on Tuesday evening. Brittany Vasili won vault, Stephanie Schuler won UB and Amanda Rota won BB to lead Brockport to the narrow win. Cortland's Amanda Scanlon won the floor with a meet-high 9.7.

Well the first weekend of NCAA competition is in the bag and it's time to recap some key impressions from the competition thus far. There were highs, there were lows, and a lot of questions yet to be answered.
UCLA overcame the Oregon State Beavers, with both teams hitting well and avoiding counting a major mistake. Samantha Pezsek was exceptional once again, in fine post-season form, winning the vault and floor en route to a 39.55 AA win. Teammate Peng-Peng Lee completed her long journey back from injury, winning the UB and tying for the beam title with Oregon State leader Chelsea Tang.

Kentucky used a balanced effort to overcome an early counting fall and defeat a young Husky squad. Five different Washington gymnasts won an event. Alex Yacalis won VT only to be injured in her FX (rolled her ankle, was unable to complete). Teammate Allison Northey won the UB, while Janae Janik won the BB. Husky frosh Zoey Schaefer tied for the FX title with teammate Faith Morrison. Neither team fielded an AAer.

The first rankings of the season have been published by Troester GymInfo. With many teams with just one meet under their belts (and a handful of ranked team with none), the rankings look a bit different this week. OU leads the way, however, with an outstanding opening weekend. LSU is second, with UF third.
SEMO's Ashley Thomas posted a 38.925 in the AA to help lead her squad to a big win over Illinois State. She also tied for the FX title with teammate Erin Brady. SEMO frosh Alexis Brawner won the vault while teammate Alyssa Tucker won the UB. For Illinois State, Sami King won the beam.

PSU opened up with a strong win over Army. Matthew Felleman and Alexis Torres led the way for the Nittany Lions. Felleman won HB and FX while Torres won SR and VT. Teammate Leroy Clark Jr posted a meet-high 15.3 to win the PB, while Nestor Rodriguez completed the PSU sweep with a win on PH.
