World University Games Team Results

Russia won the women's team competition at the World University Games this weekend.  Canada was 2nd, with former NCAAer Brittany Rogers (UGA) and current NCAAers Brianna Tsang (PSU) and Danelle Pedrick (CMU).  Japan was 3rd and Germany, with UIC gymnast Antonia Aliecke and UCLA incoming frosh Pauline Tratz, was fourth.  The US did not field a team.

Canada's Ellie Black was the top qualifier to the AA final, closely followed by Romania's Larisa Iordache.  Tratz and Tsang also qualified to the AA final.  Rogers made the finals on VT and BB while Tratz made the final on FX. 

The Men's competition was won by Japan.  The US was 7th and Canada was 8th.  The US squad included Levi Anderson of OU, Alex Diab of Illinois, Robert Neff of Stanford, Tristan Duran of PSU and Vitali Kan of Minnesota.  Canada's squad included Gophers Joel Gagnon and Justin Karsdtadt, Cal's Aaron Mah and PSU's Sam Zakutney.  Neff qualified to the AA final and is the first reserve on HB.  The Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev was the top AAer in qualifications with a big 87.15.
