Stanford's Elizabeth Price posted a big 39.65 to win the AA, and scored the first 10 of the season to win UB. She also won VT and FX (9.975). Cal's Toni Ann Williams won BB to lead the Bears to the win.

LSU leads the Women's National Rankings, as compiled by RoadToNationals, for the week of January 8th. It's an incomplete week for this first week of the season, with only 41 teams recording scores. Based on our observation of meets across the country, scoring variation was quite high, with some panels being quite strict and others were among the most permissive we've seen in quite some time (treating major errors quite lightly).
NC State's Chelsea Knight won the AA with a 39.075 to lead the Wolfpack to the tri-meet win at NIU. Knight also won the VT and tied for the FX title with NIU's Anna Martucci and UIC's Mikailla Northern. NIU's Ashley Potts and UIC's Serena Baker tied for UB while UIC's Kayla Baddley won the BB.

UCLA's Kyla Ross won the AA with a 39.5 and tied for FX title with teammate Gracie Kramer and Ohio State's Alexis Mattern. Teammate Peng-Peng Lee won UB (9.975) and BB (9.925). Bruin Pauline Tratz won VT. The Bruins got off to a bit of a rough start, with Kramer (tuck) and Pua Hall sitting down attempts at Yurchenko 1 1/2. Bruin Head Coach Valerie Kondos Field sat out the meet with an illness and Katelyn Ohashi was limited to two events with a sore ankle.

Air Force posted its highest opening score in Head Coach Doug Day's 12-year tenure, a big 193.425. Junior Mariana Murphy won the AA with a 38.675 and took the BB. Frosh teammate Tyler Davis took the VT while classmate Jessica Kirkpatrick took the UB. For UW La Crosse, Sam Weyker won the FX.

Temple posted a big 194.875 and scored a big win over UNH, Maryland and Towson at the Little Boston Invitational. The score was the squad's highest season opening score in school history by nearly three points. Here are the event winners:
Host Bridgeport took the easy win over Southern Connecticut, 192.65 to 186.15. For the Purple Knights, Nina Whittaker won VT, Kelsey Campbell won UB, and Maya Reimers won BB. Alexandra Avendano prevented a sweep by taking the FX.

Host UW Oshkosh held off Hamline by 0.05 for a narrow win. They were led by Amanda McBrayer, who tied for the VT title with Hamline's Julia Crysz-DeBoer and won the AA with a 36.95. Teammate Marisa Scholtens won the BB. For Hamline, Alyssa Huch won UB and Alexa Vorderbruggen won the FX.

Cyclone Haylee Young won the AA with a 39.2 to lead Iowa State to a big quad meet win at ASU. The hosts finished second as the two Preseason Top 25 teams were upset. Teammate Kelsey Paz won BB, while teammate Meaghan Sievers tied with AU frosh Drew Watson for the VT title. AU's Samantha Cerio won UB and Iowa's Clair Kaji won FX.

DU's Maddie Karr won VT, BB and the AA (39.5) to lead DU to the win over the Wildcats. Frosh teammate Lynnzee Brown won FX while Arizona's Christina Berg won the UB.

PSU frosh Lauren Bridgens and Briannah Tsang tied for the AA at 39.05 to lead the Nittany Lions to the win over EMU. Bridgens also won VT, while Tsang won BB. Teammate Sabrina Garcia and EMU's Emili Dobronics tied for FX. EMU's Lacey Rubin won UB.

CMU broke a record for their opening score, tallying a 196.375 to defeat Illinois State's 191.6. CMU completed a sweep of the event titles. Denelle Pedrick won VT, Bryttany Kaplan won UB, Katy Clements won BB, and Macey Hilliker won FX. Illinois State's Gabrielle Cooke won the AA with a 38.675.

Cameo Stapleton has committed to Air Force. She trains at Bart Conner. She was 1st on vault floor and the all around at her 2017 state meet. Her 6th place regional finish qualified her to JOs where she finished 42nd AA.
Utah posted a 197 to win their opener, defeating the guests from BYU (194.275). MaKenna Merrell-Giles and MyKayla Skinner led Utah, tying for the AA title at 39.475. Skinner also won the UB and BB. Merrell-Giles won FX while teammates Tiffani Lewis and Kim Tessen tied for the VT title. The Utes competed three 10.0 SV vaults.

LSU's Sarah Finnegan posted a career-high 39.65 to win the AA and lead the Tigers to the win. She also won BB and tied for the UB title with teammate Kennedi Edney. Tiger Myia Hambrick won the FX while LSU's Lexie Priessman won the VT.
