We saw some shakeouts in the relative rankings of the teams, as the conference championships brought teams together under large judging panels. Many teams scored well below their NQS marks in head-to-head competition, placing below teams ranked below them in the rankings. We also saw a high degree of unevenness in the Conference Championships scoring, reflecting the wide variation in scoring "strictness" across the country. In particular, the "home scoring" advantage experienced by some teams seems to be enhanced this season, with unevenness in scoring panels enhanced in some cases by the number of close, in-state/region meets on the schedules of some teams. This will make Regionals even more unpredictable.
