LSU leads the Women's National Rankings, as compiled by RoadToNationals, for the week of January 8th.  It's an incomplete week for this first week of the season, with only 41 teams recording scores.  Based on our observation of meets across the country, scoring variation was quite high, with some panels being quite strict and others were among the most permissive we've seen in quite some time (treating major errors quite lightly).

Cyclone Haylee Young won the AA with a 39.2 to lead Iowa State to a big quad meet win at ASU.  The hosts finished second as the two Preseason Top 25 teams were upset. Teammate Kelsey Paz won BB, while teammate Meaghan Sievers tied with AU frosh Drew Watson for the VT title. AU's Samantha Cerio won UB and Iowa's Clair Kaji won FX.

We're about to start the 2018 season, and it's time for us to release our annual Ranking of Recruiting Classes for the frosh starting during the 2017-2018 school year.  Why do we wait for so long?  We wait until just prior to the season to release this ranking because the recruiting calendar now extends year round, and we're seeing an increasing number of teams get mid-year additions and have roster changes throughout the preseason.

OU tops the Women's Preseason Coaches' Poll, with 33 first place points.  Florida is 2nd with 20 first place votes and LSU is 3rd with 7 first place votes.  Bama is 4th, Utah is fifth, and UCLA is 6th.
