The US overcame some adversity to post the highest mark in qualifying by 5.435 points. Simon Biles, nursing a calf injury and sporting a heavily taped ankle, placing 1st in the AA, 1.866 points ahead of Brazil's Rebeca Andrade. Teammate Suni Lee, the reigning Olympic Champion and former AU tiger, was 3rd. Bruin Jordan Chiles was 4th AA but will not advance to the AA Final, due to the two per country rule. Biles qualified 1st to VT and FX, and 2nd on BB. She will be the first reserve on UB. Lee qualified to the finals on UB and BB, while Chiles qualified to the FX final. Oregon State's Jade Carey was battling an illness and was weakened due to a lack of eating. She nevertheless qualified in 3rd to the VT final (with Chiles out on a two per country basis).
Minnesota signee Ava Stewart advanced to the AA final as did former Bama star Luisa Blanco, representing Colombia. Iowa signee Aurelie Tran did not advance to the AA final due to the two-per country rule. Former Bama standout Shallon Olsen qualified to another Olympic VT final. UGA transfer Csenge Backsay is the third reserve on VT. Three Philippine team members with NCAA ties competed in the AA: Stanford's Levi Jung-Ruivivar placed 40th, UCLA's Emma Malabuyo was 41st and LSU's Aleah Finnegan was 47th. MSU commit Lilia Cosman of Romania was 50th AA while former DU star and PSU assistant Lynnzee Brown was 53rd.
