Bridgeport Wins ECAC Div II Title

Bridgeport won the ECAC Division II Championship for the night straight time.  They posted a 194.925 to defeat West Chester's 192.875 and SCSUs 190.05.  Bridgeport was led by Briana Comport, who won BB and tied for the FX title with WCU's Majesta Valentine.  Teammate Kimberly Stewart won VT, while Purple Knight Christine Liataud won UB.  Kelsey Campbell took the AA for UB with a 39.125.

Men's: Navy 382.9 at Air Force 407.35

Air Force Senior Tim Wang led his squad to a 407.35 to 382.9 win over Navy.  Wang posted a 83.1 in the AA and won FX, PH and R.

UW Whitewater posted a 191.85 to take the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional.  UW La Crosse was 2nd at 189.7 and UW Stout 3rd at 188.75.

2019-20 Jane Poniewaz to OSU

Jane Poniewaz, L10 at Gymcats in Nevada, has announed her commitment to Oregon State.  This season she placed 1st on bars at the Lady Luck meet and she placed 1st AA and on vault at the Brestyans Las Vegas meet.

2019-20 Brenna Brooks to UW

L10 competitor Brenna Brooks from WOGA has announced her commitment to Washington.  She recently placed 1st AA and 1st on beam and floor at the Texas State Championships.

L10 Chelsey Christensen from Spearfish Gymnastics in South Dakota was added to the Missouri incoming group.  She won the Spearfish Invite and the Rushmore Invite this season and has placed in the top 10 AA at her 2017 meets.

It's the final week of the season, with just the Conference Championships remaining.  Just 38 teams remain in the running for one of 36 seeds at the Regional Meets.  An intense race is also under way for one of the Top 18 seeds, which will determine the composition of the Regional fields.

SUU 195.625 at BYU 195.65

Host BYU edged cross-state rival SUU, 195.65 to 195.625 on Monday night.  The meet had major implications to the National Rankings and the Regional qualification standings.  SUU was unable to improve their score and will hold at #19.  BYU was able to improve their score and currently are in a tie for #32nd (The Top 31 have already qualified to Regionals).  SUU's Stacie Webb was awarded a 10 on BB, the first ever perfect score for the SUU program.  Shannon Hortman and Mackenzie Douglas led BYU.   Hortman tied UB with teammates Natasha Trejo and Jill Van Merlo, and on FX with Douglash, teammate Kyleigh Greenlief and SUU's Madyson Blake-Howard.  Douglas won VT.

Oklahoma leads the Women's National Rankings for the Week of March 13th.  The rankings are done by Regional Qualifying Score, also known as the RQS.  The RQS is computed by taking the team's top three AWAY meet scores, the next three highest scores, tossing out the highest, and averaging the remaining five.

Army downed host Springfield 395.3 to 387.45 on Sunday.  Ryan Wilson and Seth Cannon posted matching 14.25 meet-high scores to win VT.

Men's: Air Force 378.8 at UIC 371.7

Air Force defeated host UIC 378.8 to 371.7 on Sunday.  Air Force picked up wins from Ryand Girouard on FX, Fletcher Braunton on PH, and Tim Wang on HB.

OU 197.8 at Cal 196.775

OU posted a 197.8 to defeat host Cal (196.775).  The mark was good enough to lift the Sooners to a 198 RQS average.  Sooners Brenna Dowell, Chayse Capps and Maggie Nichols each won a share of two events.  Capps and Dowell tied on VT, while Dowell, Nichols and Stefani Catour tied for the UB title.  Capps and Nichols tied with teammate Natalie Brown and Cal's Emily Richardson for the BB title.  Capps won the AA with a 39.625 while Sooner AJ Jackson won the FX.

UNC 195.4 at UCLA 197.8

UCLA celebrated Senior Day with a 197.8 to 195.4 at Pauley Pavillion.  The win moved the Bruins into 3rd in the RQS rankings while more importantly for North Carolina, the score edged them in 33rd, in the tight battle for the last of the Top 36 Regional qualifying spots. 

UCLA's Peng-Peng Lee received a 10 on UB while teammate Katelyn Ohashi received one on BB.  Teammate Hallie Mossett posted a 9.975 on FX while Bruin Madison Preston won the VT.  UNC's Morgan Lane won the AA with a 39.375.

Towson posted a 194.625 to defeat Brockport (192.425) and Towson (194.625) on Senior Day.  For Towson, Tyra McKellar won FX while Gabriella Yarussi won the AA (39.05).  Teammates Mary Elle Arduino and Melissa Temkov tied with Cornell's Lyanda Dudley on BB.  Tiger Erin Tucker tied for the VT title with Brockport State's Stephanie Mager.  On UB, Cornell's Kaitlin Green won another title.

Temple celebrated Senior Day with a new school record, 194.975, to defeat Penn (193.5), SCSU (190.5) and Ithaca (189.65).  Temple's Briana Odom led the way, winning the FX.  Penn's Caroline Moore won VT and BB while teammate Emma Cullen won UB.

GWU posted a 196.5 for a Senior Day quad meet win over NC State (194.825), Yale (194.575) and Stanford (193.275).  Cami Drouin-Allaire led the way with a win on VT, FX and the AA (39.375).  Stanford's Elizabeth Price won the UB while Stanford's Ashley Tai and Nicolette McNair tied for the BB title.
