2012-13 Lokos to Minnesota

Sarah Lokos, L10 from Hills in Maryland, has committed to Minnesota.  Her 2010 season included all around wins at Christmas on the Chesapeake (1st UB), PKI, the Maryland state meet (1st V/UB/BB), and regionals (1st UB/BB).  She earned a spot at the Nastia Liukin Supergirl meet and she placed 5th AA at JO Nationals.

2012-2013: Koster to Auburn

Kara Koster, a L10 at Arena in Illinois, has committed to Auburn for 2012-2013.  At the 2010 L10 Nationals, she finished 9th(t) on UB and 21st AA.  In 2009, she tied for 27th AA.

2012-13 Sisler to Arizona

Jessie Sisler, L10 from Technique Gymnastics in California, has committed to Arizona.  She placed in the top 4 AA in all of her regular seasons meets last season, including a 1st place finish at the Aloha GymFest and the Battle in Seattle (1st V/FX).  Moving toward nationals, she finished 3rd AA (1st V) at the NorCal state meet and 8th AA at Regionals.  She finished off the season at JO Nationals where she placed 30th AA

World Championships: Event Finals Day 2

On the Women's side, Ana Porgras won the BB while American Rebecca Bross earned a tie for silver.  Ex-Brown athlete Alicia Sacramone was 5th.  On FX, Aussie Lauren Mitchell won Gold.  American Alexandra Raisman finished just outside of the medals in fourth.

In the Men's competition, France's Thomas Bouhail won VT, while Feng Zhe of China won PB.  On HB, China's Zhang Chenglong won, while Americans Danell Leyva and Chris Brooks (ex-OU) finished 5th and 6th, respectively.

2011-12 Comini to Kent State

Stephanie Comini, L10 from Oakland Gymnastics in Michigan, has committed to Kent State.  In 2010, she finished 11th AA at her state meet, 2nd AA at regionals and qualified to JO Nationals.

World Gymnastics Championships: Event Finals

Alicia Sacramone of the US (ex-Brown) won the World title on the VT, after capping a successful comeback from retirement.  She defeated the World AA champ, Aliya Mustafina, when Mustafina's 2nd vault was downgraded for not showing the intended position.   Veterans and post-college age athletes dominated in the AA final, with only Men's FX winner Eleftherios Kosmidis at 19 the only winner younger than 22.  OU's Steven Legendre placed 8th in the FX final after some problems.  The USA's Rebecca Bross finished third on UB, behind winner Beth Tweddle, after defending champion He Kexin fell.  In fourth was former World AA champ Bridget Sloan of the US.

2012-13 Blanske to NU

Hollie Blanske, L10 at Twin City Twisters in Minnesota, has committed to Nebraska.  She finished 1st or 2nd AA in all of her 2010 meets, placed 1st on bars in every meet through the state meet, and claimed many other event titles throughout the season.  She finished 2nd AA at regionals (2nd V/UB/FX) and JO Nationals (3rd UB, 4th BB).

2012-13 Nordquist to Minnesota

Hanna Nordquist, L10 from Twin City Twisters, has committed to Minnesota.  She fhinished in the top 10 in all of her 2010 meets through regionals, where she finished 3rd AA; 1st V/FX; 4th UB.  She finished 19th AA at JO Nationals.

World Championships: AA Finals

OU grad Jonathan Horton won a bronze medal in the AA, finishing behind Japan's two-time champion Kohei Uchimura and Germany's Philipp Boy. 

In the Women's competition, Russia's Aliya Mustafina won.  Rebecca Bross was third for the US, after a fall on BB.  Jiang Yuyan of China was just ahead of Bross in 2nd.  DU grad Jessica Lopez placed 10th AA.

World Championships: Men's Team Final

China won the Men's Team title at the World Championships, ahead of Japan and Germany.  The US finished fourth, posting the highest total of the day on HB and the lowest on PH.

World Championships: Women's Team Final

Russia won, led by Aliya Mustafina while the US finished 2nd in an error-plagued but very close Women's team final at the 2010 World Gymnastics Championships.   The US contingent included ex-Brown athlete Alicia Sacramone, who led the squad with a 15.6 on VT.  UF Gator frosh-to-be Mackenzie Caquatto excelled on her two events, while UCLA signee Mattie Larsen struggled again on FX.

World Championships: Men's Qualifications

The US qualified in third place to the Men's Team Final at the World Championships.  OU grad Jonathan Horton advanced to the AA final, while current Sooner Stephen Legendre qualified on FX.  A third ex Sooner, Chris Brooks, qualified on the HB.  Ohio State's Brandon Wynn is a reserve on Rings.

2011-12 Stepp to NIU

Amanda Stepp, L10 from All American Flames Gymnastix in Michigan, has committed to NIU for the 2011-12 season.  Amanda was the 2010 state and regional vault champ.  She also placed 3rd on floor at regionals.  At the NIT she tied for 2nd on vault and finished 7th in the AA.

World Championships: Men's Team, Day 1

The US men's squad, filled with current and former NCAAers, is in second place after the first six subdivisions of the men's team preliminary competition.  With some of the top teams like China left to go, the team is in a very good position to qualify for finals.   The team was led by OU grad Jonathan Horton, who ranks 2nd AA behind the reigning World Champion Kohei Uchimura.   Horton was joined by former Sooners Chris Brooks and current star Steven Legendre, who are chasing event final sports on HB and FX, respectively.  Ohio State's Brandon Wynn and Michigan's Chris Cameron.  NCAAers (current and former) also excelled for other countries, including Stanford Eddie Penev (competing for Bulgaria) and former PSU star Casey Sandy (competing for PSU).  Link:  USA Gymnastics Story and Results
