2019-20 Jasmine Henley to SJSU

Jasmine Henley from Redwood Empire has committed to SJSU.  She last competed in the 2017 season and qualified to regionals.

Kentucky Staff Named Coaches of the Year

Kentucky Head Coach Tim Garrison was named Coach of the Year and assistants Chuck Dickerson and Rachel Garrison were named Assistant Coaches of the Year by the NACGC/W.

2018-19 Haley Zarett to NCSU

Haley Zarett will walk on at NCSU this fall.  She competes for Central Bucks.  She recently competed 3 events at her regional meet.

Men's: OU Wins 2018 National TItle

OU posted a 414.858 to win the 2018 Men's NCAA title, their fourth in a row.  Minnesota was 2nd at 411.923 and Illinois 3rd at 411.689.  Stanford was 4th at 408.725, NU 5th at 403.589 and PSU 6th at 401.991.

UCLA Wins 2018 NCAA Title

UCLA won the 2018 NCAA title in a dramatic come from behind victory of OU, 198.075 to 198.0375.  UCLA's Peng-Peng Lee anchored BB with her second 10.0 of the night, following Kyla Ross' 9.9875.  Lee also posted a 10.0 on UB as UCLA came from behind to overtake OU in the last two rounds with team scores of 49.6375 on UB and an incredible 49.75 in the last round on BB.  Those two huge team totals overcame a deficit created when they posted just a 49.225 on VT, seemingly falling off the pace of the OU, UF and LSU.

Men's Preliminaries: 2018 NCAAs

In Session 1, Stanford (407.39), Minnesota (404.758) and Nebraska (402.69) advanced to the Finals.  Michigan (400.59), Navy (390.921) and Air Force (385.688) finished their season. 

In Session 2, OU posted a 410.991 to edge Illinois' 408.824.  PSU beat Ohio State for the final spot, 404.79 to 403.959.  Iowa was 5th at 400.451 with Cal rounding at the field at 395.991.

Women's: AA and Event Winners

OU's Maggie Nichols tied for titles on FX and UB, including a perfect 10 on the latter, to win the NCAA AA title with a 39.8125.  Utah's MyKayla Skinner was 2nd at 39.725, including a share of the VT title.  Stanford senior Elizabeth Price tied with Nichols on the UB at 10.0 and placed 3rd A at 39.675.

OU posted a huge 198.05 to win the evening session and advance to the Super Six Finals.  Florida posted a 197.5875 for 2nd, while Utah posted a 197.1375 to take the third spot in the finals. 

UCLA posted a 197.5625 to edge LSU's 197.475 and advance to the Super Six Finals.  Nebraska posted a 197.0125 to secure the third and final spot.  A trio of teams from the SEC completed the round:  UGA at 196.6875, Bama at 196.625 and Arkansas 196.425.  UCLA's Kyla Ross posted the top AA mark at a 39.6375.  She also held the top mark on UB (9.95), while teammates Peng-Peng Lee (9.9875) leads on BB and Katelyn Ohashi (9.9625) leads on FX.  On vault, UGA's Sydney Snead and NU's Taylor Houchin were tied at 9.9

Men's: Roberson Wins Elite 90 Award

PSU redshirt junior Noah Roberson won the Elite 90 Award for Men's Gymnastics, which goes to the athlete at the finals (with sophomores or above) with the highest cumulative GPA.  He won last season as well.  He holds a 4.0 GPA with a double major in biomedical and mechanical engineering.

Ohio State's Sean Melton won the Nissen-Emery Award for 2018.  It honors the top senior male.

2019-20 Camille Vitoff to Towson

Camille Vitoff of Arizona Sunrays has committed to Towson.  This season she finished 3rd AA at her state meet and 6th AA at regionals, qualifying to JOs.

Florida Adds Two More for 2018-2019

Florida officially announced that Trinity Thomas has signed her NLI for 2018-2019.  They also confirmed that Halley Taylor will join the squad for next season.  The commits of both were covered in prior news items.
